So since I have the time I'm in a totally reality television driven phase of my life, and I seem to have focused on 2 fashion related shows. Both are great and awful to some extent but let's break it down:
Project Runway
- Has an awesome mentor a.k.a Tim Gunn with a cool catchphrase 'MAKE IT WORK!!!' (+10)
- Annoying Host Heidi Klum, who always looks like she's about to shoot out a baby mid program, plus is always so fake with her 'Bye now/Auf Wiedersehen' crap (-5)
- The contestants seem way more talented than in ANTM, there is much less bitchiness and when a new winner is announced, the viewer is often genuinely happy for them (+5)
- The prizes for most challanges is just immunity so meh (-3)
- Contestants like Seth Aaron, Santino and Anthony (+3)
- The challanges are not as innovative as in ANTM (-2)
- But probably have more real world applictaion (+4)
ANTM
- Although most people think she's super annoying, Tyra is THE BOMB! (+10)
- Makeovers!!! (+3)
- Seriously delusional contestants like Angelea, and a half dozen others whose names I can;t be bothered with (-8)
- Nigel Barker(+5)
- The Jays(-6)
- Cool challenges like Mixed ethnicity shoots, Zodiac signs et al (+6)
- Yeah not so great in actual fashion magazine shoots (-5)
- Smize-ing! (+3)
- Awesome prizes (+5)
So to add up, Project Runway = 12, ANTM = 13??? Well, I guess the answers are clear. Although Project Runway is way more interesting and of a higher caliber than ANTM, the latter makes GREAT TV and appeals to the shallow side of me! Ah well!
